Discovery Exercise for Thing 29 and 30

I surprised myself by finishing Learning 2.0. I could not have done it without the help of my wonderful and very patient colleagues. The program definitely is a learning experience. As for the blogs - Wow! I am quite impressed. You could see the different personalities and individual characters that played into their development.
On a side note: Well done, Cindy!

Discovery Exercise for Thing 28

Rollyo is interesting. I created my account and a search roll, and still find it interesting. But, it's still a question if it's the one I would turn to for searches. We'll see.

I think I referred to this site a while back because I was impressed by it. This would be one of my favorites.

Discovery Exercise for Thing 25

I like Arizona State University Libraries podcasts. Our library customers will definitely benefit from this kind of medium. Hope you like my pick on the YouTube video.

I have difficulty accessing the urls of the recommended popular directories. I will keep on trying though.

I like Mappr. It is so interesting to have something that allows you to take Flickr images and paste them on a map. However, the intriguing one, I think is Montagr - creating a photo mosaic from photos found on Flickr. You just have to have time to play.

Tagging on Flickr is fun. It is also amazingly easy to find other photos and ways to play with them. Community is developed on Flickr because of the sharing.

Discovery Exercise for Thing 20

Flicker looks good and something I would really like to explore but it wouldn't allow me to create a free account after so many tries. Maybe it's just a hiccup. Never fear, I will try again.

Discovery Exercise For Thing 19

What I liked about Biblio is it is easy on the eyes and is customer friendly. I also like the price and description of materials.

LibraryThing is another site I intend to go back to. Very interesting comments.

I find that Technorati is not much to brag about.

Discovery Exercise for Thing 17

I find that Del.icio.us is an easy way to create bookmarks that can be accessed from anywhere and has the potential to use as a tool for research assistance.

Discovery Execise for Thing 15 and 16

Social networking gives me goosebumps. Scary but nonetheless fascinating. I'd say, yes, let's use a social networking site to connect with teens. Let us, however, make sure that they are aware and forewarned of their responsibilities.

Discovery Exercise for Thing 13 and 14

Learning, sharing and editing information on Wikis is, at the very least, intriguing.

An entry into the VBPL's Reader's Advisory wiki:
Penn, Audrey. The Kissing Hand. When Chester, the raccoon, is reluctant to go to kindergarten for the first time, his mother teaches him a secret way to carry her love with him. This children's book is another wonderful way to introduce your child to separation - like going to school.

Discovery Exercise for Thing 11 and 12

Instant Messaging is very convenient. It is no surprise the community applaud and appreciate VBPL keeping up to date with technology. This service, like the Self Check Out and Drive Up Window, will become very popular because it does make life easier for staff and and those we serve. But ... here's hoping that sometime in the future, we don't lose sight of how important it is to communicate in person.
